Being a whovian means…

Since I first became a whovian, the meaning has changed a few times for me. At first, I believed it meant to be a little crazy but still willing to do the right thing. Though, as I delved further into the show, I learned differently. It means to be part of a very big family. It’s not just being part of a fandom, it’s not all about edits, gif sets, or head canons and fan fics. It’s about being there for each other as the Doctor is there for his companion.

It’s about taking the lessons the Doctor teaches all of us and being able to apply them to real life scenarios, and sometimes taking those lessons and helping one another remember that there ARE reasons to go on living. It means you are willing to be you, no matter what others may do because you know there is no other you in the universe and there never will be. Being a REAL Whovian means that you’re going to go the distance to make sure you’re the best you that you could possibly be.

Most importantly, being a whovian means that you’re unique. You’re unwilling to conform to everyone else’s images of what you should be. We all have our own paths in life, our own stories to tell. The end isn’t important, cause we’re all going to get there someday. The most important part is the journey there, because there’s so many different paths to take, and we’re all traversing our own individual way to get there.

INHUMAN WAILS OF PAIN AND SUFFERING

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE, CAN NEVER BE UNDONE.

What if our real lives are exactly like our favorite shows and we get to hunt demons, solve crimes, or travel with the Doctor, and this our favorite character’s high school AU fan fiction about us?

What/who do you associate with me?

happilycaptainswan:

I’m curious. What are the, say, top 5 things you associate with me?

Can be a tumblr user, a book, movie, character, actor etc.

Or 1 or 3 or 10. Whatever. :)

please don’t be intimidated by me, I’m a fucking dork

Setting the Stage

I’ve previously told about my entrance to the Doctor Who fandom, but I haven’t told about the man that got me into it, all that much anyway. As I’ve said before, my father was the one that introduced the show to me at 10 years old. I remember walking into his bedroom to ask him if we could play something, and seeing how he wasn’t responding, I decided to turn my head and follow wherever his gaze was, which happened to be the TV. The episode “The Unicorn and the Wasp" was on, and it’d just started.

I suddenly forgot about my trivial question and plopped down on the bed next to my dad, and we sat there watching the show together, me asking questions along the way due to my inexperience at the time. I learned my dad’s favorite Doctor was Tom Baker, and he showed me one of his episodes, though at the time I couldn’t very well get into classic who due to the length of the episodes.

Ten became my first Doctor, and I learned that my dad’s first Doctor was Pertwee, though Baker was his favorite. I suppose I took after him, since while Tennant was my first Doctor, Matt Smith is my favorite, and I consider him to be MY Doctor. I love them both, and I especially enjoyed their similar personalities in the 50th, but I wasn’t there with ten through his whole run, with eleven, I was. He was my first fully experienced Doctor, from start, to finish.

It was excruciatingly painful to see him go, but I do look forward to twelve’s run. Capaldi is a fantastically brilliant actor, and I think that Moffat made the correct choice in picking him. I know there are some fans out there who have said they won’t watch if he’s going to be the doctor, and I think that’s just rubbish. My dad was the one that taught me an actor can be a fantastic doctor, despite their age or looks. Tom Baker wasn’t exactly the youngest, or the handsomest face to portray the Gallifreyan time lord, but he was certainly entertaining and witty.
